Great display of netball by GGS junior Netballers!

GGS junior netball girls decided to have an active last day of term by heading to Fort William for their first friendly netball games of the term.

First on court was a mixed S1/2 team who were keen for a good run around after a wet and windy trip down on the minibus. They played excellently , dominating play and  linking together well as a team. Katelyn (S2) was feisty in centre court, along with the ever evasive Lily (S1) who darted up and down court at Centre. Defenders Isla, Olivia and Lottie made FW attack’s a tricky affair and after a wobbly first quarter shooters Maisie and Tilly started to find the net.

Final Score

GGS-9   Fort William:1

Unlike the S1/2s, who dominated the play on court, the S2 team had  to work a lot harder to gain possession of the ball in game 2. Competing against an older, more experienced S4 team from FW, the girls had to work for every ball. They didn’t disappoint! Some outstanding defensive play from Wing Defence Molly, Goal Defence Adele and Goal keeper Olivia meant that the FW girls were never too far adrift. However, a mighty FW defence also meant that shooters, Rachel and Rebekah did not get too many shots at goal. In the final quarter FW stretched the lead but were hustled all the way by the GGS girls. It was a great display of « never giving up » and a game that they learned a lot from.

Final Score

GGS:3    Fort William:12
