YPI final – MND Scotland awarded £3000 grant cheque

Well done to all the teams who took part in YPI this year. There were some very moving presentations today, with Julia, Molly, Rachel, and Sebastian’s chosen charity, MND Scotland coming in first place. The charity will now receive a cheque for £3000 majority funded by the Wood Family Trust with a contribution from the school.

The winning team have summarised their presentation: “For our charity we did Motor Neurone Disease Scotland. We chose it because Molly’s Nan passed away in 2013 after she was diagnosed with MND, which effects the brain and muscles. It stops the electrical messages from your muscles going to your brain and makes it hard to walk, talk, swallow and breathe. Only 2 in every 100,000 people in the UK are diagnosed with MND each year. They have support groups and patients with MND locally. The money will go towards equipment to help an MND sufferer live the rest of their life comfortably and also towards research because there is still NO cure. We are thrilled that we have won and would like to thank any who helped us through the process.”
